Tim S. from the Metroparks took us on a tour of three properties the Metroparks has purchased between Secor and Oak Openings.  The goal is to create a greenway between the two parks (view the map).

The first property was a restored wet prairie just south of Irwin Prairie...

Metroparks will continue to treat the buckthorn in these areas until the native prairie plants gain control.
The second property was a savanna east of Meilke Rd. where the Metroparks land management group is working to open up the canopy. -->
